Software I am trying out
NextCloud is a self-host platform offering – among many other things – file storage and sharing from your own private cloud. For about $7/month or less, you can get a virtual private server (VPS) set up, with NextCloud running on it.
Here you can back up your devices, store photos, videos and other important docs. And you can share them the same way you’d share something with Drive or Dropbox.
Why not use a free service? If you’re like me, you started running out of space long ago.. It is time I found a private and affordable option. So far, it seems to be NextCloud.
I have fast internet (finally)
I found myself last year reminiscing the days of T1 ethernet connections in the college dorms. But this year we got fiber in our house.
When my good friend Bill, who works for an internet comms company, checked my internet speed, he was shocked how fast it was. Finally, my internet is fast again.
Anyone else have experience, or maybe a story, with fiber internet?
A tool for entrepreneurs
Sometime in 2021, I built a tool called the Hero’s Journey – a structured framework of questions that elicit key information about a product/service that a business offers, and why their customers need it. It is then used to brand creation to create a brand message, powerful sales message, and more. It has proved its value over and over with entrepreneurs and clients alike.
Now I’ve released an AI-powered 2.0 version that I invite you to try.
What you’ll need:
- business idea or product, and a sense for who wants/needs it
- 5-7 minutes (but could take longer)
Try it here: https://entrepositive.com/heros-journey
Bonus: A secret that all plumbers know
You can tell the difference between the hot and cold lines in older plumbing systems. Cold lines collect condensation, moisture from the air, on their outside surface. Over time, this causes oxidation (rust but for copper).
Want to find the cold line? It’s the green one that looks old and dirty. The clean one is the hot line.
