June 11 — Weekend of freedom, Albanian food, pricing strategy, mentalism

A weekend without kids

OMG I have to say it has been really nice to spend a weekend with my wife only – date night, workouts, comedy show. We did whatever we wanted and it was glorious.

We love our kids. Like far more than words can possibly portray.

And we love our free time, mostly because it comes so infrequently. This weekend we:

  • went to the gym together and just worked out without a concern for time – what a relaxing experience!
  • went on a dinner date
  • saw a comedian (Des Bishop)
  • went on a lunch date
  • spent quality time together
  • went to a wedding

This was like a vacation. Love it!

Cka Ka Qellu

Albanian restaurant

We visited a local restaurant in Stamford, Cka Ka Qellu, an Albanian restaurant, that has gotten some national recognition. I’ll be honest I hadn’t had Albanian food prior to this dinner. I’ve had Macedonian before, which is similar, but different.

Originally opened in The Bronx, New York, Stamford is the second location.

This food was exceptional. We shared a meat taco. It of course had an Albanian name but this thing was exactly what you’d get if you made a taco shell three times bigger, made it out of veal and stuffed it with a special cheese. Very good food. Nice ambience. We’ll be back.

The parable of the breadmaker

This post from Alex Hormozi is about pricing of a product or service and knowing its value to the end user. It’s a mind shift for sure – a whole new outlook for me.

I’m going mental over this mentalist

Oz Pearlman was a recent guest on the Joe Rogan Experience (ep 2332). Oz is a mentalist renowned for his ability to impress audiences with magic and tricks of the mind. He performed several impressive tricks with Joe, predicting Joe’s guessing to a series of coin flips and even figured out Joe’s debit card PIN code.
