I snuck in a fight (and got to the wedding on time)
First of all, I’m sorry to all who expected an email yesterday. I’m squeezed for time and yesterday I spent buried in client work. Personal stuff comes second during the workday (and always to a degree).
Over the weekend my sister got married, again (refer back to one of my October emails last year for the first wedding story – it was epic). guests arrived at 4:30 and I was registered for Tap Cancer Out, a national jujitsu charity tournament that raises millions of dollars for various cancer-related research and relief organizations. It’s a good cause.
I went, unsure if I’d be able to sneak a fight in before I had to leave and get ready for the wedding. In the end I was able to fight against the one other guy in my bracket. He was a strong contender, I fought well, and lost both matches to him by points. I’m super stoked that A, I got to fight, and B, I didn’t tap out. I fought two full rounds and lost by points. I’ll take that over tapping out any day.
The wedding was awesome, beautiful and it was nice to see so many close friends and family that I hadn’t seen in a while.
Speaking of seeing a lot of people you know – do you have any tips for getting around a large crowd of people you know? I always feel like by the time I’ve greeted everyone, it’s already time to say goodbye.

Our baby son giggled for the first time
Much to my chagrin, I was coerced into trimming my beard this week. On the upside, I rubbed my baby son’s feet against my stubble, which made him properly giggle. There are only a few joys in life more pure and satisfying than hearing your baby giggle. I endorse it to you.
