May 28 — First dino footprint, 18+ LEGO, quarantine, Mark Zuckerberg interview

What I’m building

My wife and I are building “adult” LEGOs together. I’m serious. It’s a LEGO bonsai tree and it’s really cool, actually. It’s the same old constructive fun that I remember from my childhood and it’s a mutual activity with my wife.

And yes, we switch off building and finding tiles and blocks.

Making fun of Mark Zuckerberg

Theo Von interviewed Mark Zuckerberg last month and it was fun to listen to them both being socially awkward with each other. Theo is a funny guy, a comedian by trade, and made a few jokes that didn’t quite pop the way he probably intended, which was even funnier. Zuck takes it like someone who used to hear it but hasn’t in a long, long time. It was a fun and relatively light conversation that got a bit into the Zuckerberg’s personal life, talking about his family, jiu jitsu and philanthropy.

Long weekend in

Well our weekend plans got a big old wrench thrown in with hand foot and mouth disease. My younger son showed symptoms Friday and then we found out 6 kids in his class are already out with hand foot and mouth. (I know that sounds bad but the real name for it sounds worse.)

My mom came in for a quick visit and ended up staying through the whole weekend. It was so nice having her around, even though we all missed a nice long beach weekend with extended family. The boys loved spending time with Grandma and my wife and I had some normalcy in what would have been a rather dismal quarantine weekend.

Ankylosaur footprint found

The first ever footprint from an ankylosaur was found last month in the Canadian Rockies. I used to geek out on dinos a bit. They were the only things I like to draw when I was young. I drew the best dinosaurs a 5 year old could draw. Word on the street was they were the best in town. Na I’m playing, I was more into skiing and cruising on my bike. Was never much into drawing, painting or any of the visual art.

What do you geek out on?
