July 30 — Is it real or Ai? Need a Sales Manager, high school reunion, hyperspecific Japanese terms

Had our 20-year reunion

I mentioned it before, I joined forces with a couple of high school friends that I’ve kept in touch with through the years to plan our 20-year reunion. That was last Saturday and it was A HIT!

I can’t describe the joy it was to see so many familiar faces in one place – seriously, so many people still look exactly the same! It was a bit like a dream. Some people even flew in for the weekend. I think this one will end up being the highlight of the summer. It was so, so nice to catch up with people and meet spouses and hear stories and talk about what’s changed, what’s still exactly the same. Old friends, there’s something truly special about them.

Looking to meet a Head of Sales (or Sales Manager)

I am building out a product that uses a voice agent (Ai) to speak with a sales manager about prospects, sales staff and specific current deals. The agent has limited access to a CRM or prospect database and is trained for the situation of retrieving and summarizing this information in a way that saves sales managers lots of time.

I’d like to meet a Head of Sales or Sales Manager who loves using great technology to save time. Know someone? I’d love to meet them.

Japanese terms I love

Here’s a few Japanese terms that I love and kinda sorta live by. Enjoy!

Kaizen – constant, regular micro-improvements that lead to unknown results

Ikigai – your reason for being; where talent, enjoyment, usefulness and getting paid join together

Kintsugi – brokenness is highlighted to reveal, rather than disguise an item’s history

Real or Ai?

In these modern times with recent leaps in Ai graphic and video, sound and content, it’s becoming harder and harder to tell the difference between what’s “real” (ie. made through human effort), and what’s Ai-generated.

So I got one for you. Is this video of a steam train real or Ai?

Send me an email with your guess and I’ll announce it in next week’s email.
