March 12 — USAID, the work I do, focus, and a ski documentary

A project I’m working on

If you’ve visited my website, you’ve probably seen the rather curiously-formatted posts in the Research section. It started with an itch. I wanted to emulate the web search process but get it all done for me in about 10-30 seconds. So I built an automation that gives me a “TL;DR”, like a blurb, in a few seconds and continues on in the background building out a detailed outline with sources cited, and posts it directly to my website.

And the part that’s most fun? I do it all with my voice using Siri.

What I’m building out now is a modified B2B variation of that research tool, specifically designed to support a team of copywriters who provide SEO services for their clients. I know that’s a mouthful. In a nutshell, it helps a writer form a high quality, researched outline from a concept inside a Google Doc.

It’s a lot of fun building these out. If you’d like to know more about this process, let me know. If there’s some interest, I’ll be happy to share more.

A ski documentary I watched

For the true love of skiing, Pursuit of Soul is a ski documentary on Youtube that highlights independent ski mountains around the US. The first episode covers the Northeast, where my feet carved their first turn through ice and hard-pack. Here are the mountains that made a special debut in this awesome and touching short film series – that’s right, there are two more parts in this series:

  • Berkshire East
  • Magic Mountain
  • Bolton Valley
  • Saddleback
  • Cannon Mountain
  • Black Mountain
  • Snow King
  • Beaver Mountain
  • Lost Trails
  • Brundage Mountain
  • Mission Ridge
  • 49 Degrees North

Focus.

You only have one focus, one attention in a given moment; spend it wisely.

Clickbait: USAID narrative that challenges everything

Conspiracy. It’s a word a lot of people seem to be afraid of these days. Hardly a new concept though.

Listening to Joe Rogan has made me no stranger to conspiracy theories of all sorts. And a lot of people do just that: theorize. “Imagine if…”

But Rogan’s recent guest (2nd time on the show) Mike Benz has a lot to say about the current USAID situation. Conspiracy to the max. It was enlightening to say the least – in fact, Mike seems to be more informed than anyone or anything I’ve heard when it comes to USAID. If only half of what he shared is true, it’s bad for USAID. The gist: USAID bankrolls nasty CIA operations and propaganda abroad to destabilize foreign governments.

If that sounds interesting to you, have a listen. Be warned it’s classic Joe Rogan, so cussing is SOP. Mike has an X profile that he’s also very actively posting on.
